Man finds $17,000 cash and turns it in ... JW?
by wannabefree indespite this man's facial hair and no mention of religion, he must be one of jehovah's witnesses, cuz surely no worldly person would be so honest.. serioulsy, he credits his parents.
it always irritated me that whenever a witness does something good they have to throw in "as one of jehovah's witnesses ...." as though they were implying they would otherwise not have done the right thing.. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-man-finds-17000and-turns-it-in-20110609,0,6950954.story.

wannabe... I'm willing to bet the guy isn't a JW; if your curiosity warrants it, why not look up this Robert Adams or Greg Jarrett, the reporter who did the story? Here's are a couple of instructive links for the naive to consider: http://www.holysmoke.org/cos/almost-as-bad.htm and http://www.perjureddeposition.com/2011/03/ron-nelson-construction-montana.html

Well done, as usual, Blondie; thanks. It's scary the lengths they go to orchestrate every aspect of the JW's behavior; it's a rare "kool-aid" WT study that doesn't focus entirely on behavior modfication/manipulation.

The Watchtower Society Hedge Fund
by TJ Curioso inthe watchtower society hedge fundseveral weeks ago it came to my attention via the e-jehovahs-witnesses discussion board that the watchtower society had devised a new money raising scheme.
the scheme is to beg and borrow money from each individual congregation account, which they deem to be in excess of the congregation's actual expenses.
i half jokingly responded to the topic then that the watchtower has become a hedge fund.

There was a Bethel contingent in attendance at a seminar in the Bloomberg headquarters office, to which subscribers to the company's $20,000-per-year financial analysis/news terminal were invited. One of them handed me his business card with the title" International Cash Manager." The WT has more than one of these dandy little real-time monitors which empower large-scale investors with state-of-the-art bond analytics.

Black Sheep,
If they had buried him there, they would have had to exhume his body before any sale of the property. That would have been fun!

Unrest in the Governing Body
by JWFreak inone of the many questions that i am asked is what are the current gb members like, who are the hardliners and who are more moderate.. because of my previous job, at a european bethel, i had dealings with most of them with the exception of sam herd.. these are my observations of my conversations with them and how others who had dealings with them.. other ex bethelites may have contrary views to mine, but i would be surprised.. i had spent a lot of time with splane, lett and morris.
hardliners.
david splane, without doubt the one who commands the most respect and attention.

The wording in recent WT articles referring to the writers/contributors as "representatives" of the GB suggests that none of these guys does any writing. It's clear there's no one in the house anywhere close to Freddy or Karl Adams in exegesis or infusing the literature with insightful argumentation or perspective. It seems clear the current GB is focused simply holding things together while hoping against hope the Big A arrives in time to rescue them.

In a bad situation - blood
by Joey Jo-Jo inmy jw mom had a bad car accident, she has neck problems and she might need a transfusion, so this is what ray means when illusion meets with reality, anyway i need to voice my opinion on the matter without pushing her away..
-
Room 215
Has she recovered from the accident and now needs corrective surgery? If so, it would appear that the WT has left open a "crack in the door" with regards to the use of autologous blood (one's own blood drawn and stored prior to surgery) .. The October 2001 WT mentions recourse to one's own blood if it's used as part of "current therapy." This for them is a significant liberalization; I read it on a thread somewher, maybe Marvin Shilmer can help here.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 05-29-2011 WT Study (JEREMIAH)
by blondie in1, 2. why is jehovahs keeping awake associated.
message to nations and kingdoms.
people today appreciate what about the preaching.

Thanks, Blondie. Once again, they've twisted the entire theme of the book Jeremiah into a pretzel. Even a cursory review of its contents show that Jeremiah's God-given denunications were directed at the annointed leadership of HIS OWN PEOPLE, notably the king and the priests, the higher-ups of that "typical theocracy."
It would therefore seem more apt to identify as today's real "Jeremiah class" the so-called "apostates" that call into question the accountability of the self-congratulating, arrogant Governing Body, often at considerable personal cost to themselves, i.e. the severance of cherished family ties and life-long relationships. For them, as for Jeremiah, it takes guts.
